It’s that time of the year when the NFL season is starting again! Being from Brazil, where football is not a thing (we are soccer people), we chose to adopt the Seahawks upon coming to live in Seattle. They have such a great fan base (hello, 12s!) and I have to say I love Russel Wilson and Pete Carroll. So much charisma in that duo.
I know they haven’t played the Superbowl in a while but they usually put up a good show so it’s fun to watch them regardless of the outcomes.
Now, differently from other sports, a football game lasts about 3 to 4hs and has MANY interruptions. That’s why I love the idea of watching them with friends. This way, it becomes a party with guaranteed entertainment. So, what do you need for a game watching party at home? Let’s take a look at the the list I put together:
Food and drinks
Honestly, this is the only must-have. Typically, snacks are the go-to option since they’re less messy and easier to munch on here and there. Just remember to consider the time of the event. On the west coast, quite often we have games in the morning, before lunch. In this case, a brunch-style party would be a great fit! That would mean, going easy on the alcohol and on fatty snacks that usually don’t sit well this time of day. But if it’s an afternoon/evening affair, then you can certainly go for the usual suspects like burgers, hot dogs, nachos, wings. A potluck is always a good idea to make things easier on you. If you want to give your guests that football match vibe, there are a few decoration options that can really make it all look special and more fun. No need to break the bank, here. Like I said, there’s a lot of hanging out waiting for the game to come back. Plus, a considerable break at halftime.
