Planning the decoration for a mini outdoor wedding

I’m personally passionate about all kinds of weddings. Celebrating love and the new phase in the lives of people we care about makes this kind of party even more special.

I’ve been married since October 2015 and I frequently remember this day and have ideas about celebrating it again when we complete 10 years of marriage. We had a religious celebration in a church and our party was in an indoor venue.

I’m currently helping a friend organize her wedding. It’ll be outside of their home and the idea is to receive their closest friends to celebrate this special day with them. That’s why I thought of sharing some ideas on how to plan the wedding decoration in this post as I found out many things while researching options for my friend’s big day!

There are some things you will need to decide before starting to browse for ideas, such as: budget, number of guests and the decoration style. You can imagine that the budget might also determine the other two. In this post you’ll find ideas for a mini outdoor wedding (maximum of 60 guests), low budget and for a rustic decoration style. I hope you enjoy it!

Below I’m listing all the steps we made to plan the decoration.

  • Do an online search for references

My first suggestion is going to Pinterest and searching for inspirations that match your chosen decoration style. For example, in order to figure out references for my friend’s wedding, we searched for: “mini outdoor wedding decoration”.

Here are some ideas that matched what we were looking for.

  • Check things you already have at home (and ask your friends)

For many people it might sound obvious, but I’m the one who frequently forgets to check what I already have at home before shopping for new things. The only time I realize all the accumulated things I have is when we move (I swear I’m working to improve this!).

So, after picking some references, go and check the things you have at home that could be used to decorate. Also, share with your friends and ask what they have at home that you could borrow. Trust me, everyone will be more than happy to help you!

  • Plan the space

This step is really important. It will be crucial to define how you’ll accommodate your guests. It means, depending on how much space you have, you can plan to have chairs for everyone to sit or just a few high tables around for people to place their glasses. Also, make sure to plan ahead in case you have guests with special needs.

My suggestion is that you measure all the space you have and use some online tool to help you choose what is the best way to dispose of everything. Here you can find some free options to try.

  • Find out what’s necessary to buy

After knowing how much furniture you’ll have and how they will be organized, it’s time to plan what you’ll need to buy. There are some things that are perishable and you need to buy them a day before, such as flowers.

I also love the wedding signs (link to Amazon by clicking in the images):

These wedding photo booth accessories are also affordable options that can make the difference to your reception!

I hope this post makes you feel like celebrating this remarkable beginning in someone’s life!
